CharityAPI Cancellation Policy

This Cancellation Policy (the “Policy”) describes how subscribers to the services made available at charityapi.org (the “Services”) operated by CharityAPI (“CharityAPI”, “charityapi.org”, “we”, “us”, “Company”, or “our”) may cancel their paid subscriptions, when those cancellations take effect, and how refunds are handled. This Policy supplements, and is incorporated by reference into, the CharityAPI Platform Terms and Conditions. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given to them in the Terms and Conditions.
Subscription Terms
Paid CharityAPI plans are sold as month-to-month subscriptions. Each subscription term begins on the date the initial charge is processed by our payment processor, Stripe, Inc. (“Stripe”), and renews automatically every thirty (30) days at the then-current rate for the plan you have selected. The billing amount, billing frequency, and the recurring nature of the subscription are disclosed to you on the checkout page prior to your purchase and on each receipt issued by Stripe to the email address on file. By completing checkout you authorize CharityAPI, through Stripe, to charge the payment method on file for each successive renewal until you cancel in accordance with this Policy.
How to Cancel
You may cancel your paid subscription at any time, online, without contacting CharityAPI by telephone or speaking with a representative. To cancel:
- Sign in to your account at https://api.charityapi.org/users/account.
- Click the “Stripe Portal” button on your account page to open the Stripe-hosted customer billing portal.
- Select your active subscription and choose “Cancel subscription”.
Your cancellation is recorded the moment you confirm it in the Stripe billing portal. Stripe will send an electronic confirmation of the cancellation to the email address on file. We recommend you retain that confirmation for your records.
If you are unable to access the Stripe billing portal, you may also request cancellation by emailing support@charityapi.org from the email address associated with your account. We will process such requests within one (1) business day and reply with an electronic confirmation.
Effect of Cancellation
Cancellation is effective immediately upon confirmation. Once you cancel:
- No further renewal charges will be made to your payment method.
- You will continue to have access to the paid features of the Services, including your existing API keys and their associated rate limits, through the end of the thirty (30)-day billing term for which you have already paid (the “Paid Term”).
- At the conclusion of the Paid Term, your account will revert to the free tier automatically. Your API keys will continue to function but will be subject to the free-tier rate limits and feature set.
Refunds
Cancellation does not generate a prorated refund of any portion of fees already paid. All charges for the current and prior billing terms are final and non-refundable. We do not offer partial-month, partial-term, or unused-usage refunds. Nothing in this Policy limits any non-waivable refund right you may have under applicable law.
Disputes and Chargebacks
If you believe a charge on your statement is incorrect, or if you have any other billing concern, please contact us at support@charityapi.org before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute with your card issuer or bank. We will work in good faith to investigate and, where appropriate, resolve the issue promptly. Initiating a chargeback for a charge you have not first attempted to resolve with us, or for a subscription you did not cancel through the means described above, may result in suspension or termination of your account.
Changes to this Policy
We may revise this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this Policy reflects the most recent revision. Material changes that adversely affect your existing subscription will be communicated to you by email at the address on file, or by a prominent notice in the customer billing portal, at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Services after a revision takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
